Busy, busy!

Had a terrific winter! I participated in the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore. I was part of the altcraft section that showcased new and alternative design. Big show and was honored to be included. This spring I am participating in the Admo Pop Up in Adams Morgan in Washington, DC. The shop will be open through April 16, so stop in if you're in town. Next up for me is Art in the Park in Richmond, Virginia on April 30 and May 1. Great show and I will have alot of new work.

Heading to Philly for lovesick!

It's going to be an early night for me! Heading to Philly for the 1st annual Lovesick Wedding Expo in the morning. Daily Candy featured the expo on their Philly edition so it should be mobbed! New designs, new display...hoping to be cool enough for this rockin' party!

I am expecting a very busy winter! I will be participating in the Lovesick Wedding Expo in Philly this January. This will be a new show for me! I plan on bringing a lot of cool new products geared toward bridesmaids, and bridal party gifts. Ever heard of cool guitar string wedding bands and celestial bridesmaid earrings? Be there or be boring!

In February, I will be participating in the American Craft Council alternative craft section in Baltimore. The show will take place from Feb. 24-27. If you have any creative booth ideas, I would love to hear them!!! I will be posting work that I will be featuring in the show!!

PRS Guitars!

Exciting news! I have worked out a great partnership with the international guitar company PRS Guitars! They have agreed to give me their old guitar strings. It will work like this: when they refurbish an old guitar, they cut the strings off and put new ones on. I will get those strings along with the "nubs" found at the bottom that keep the strings in place. I will also get the strings that break in the guitar making process. I am beyond excited, as you have probably guessed. So, if you buy a pair of earrings or any piece of jewelry from me after Friday...it just might be Carlos Santana's old guitar strings. How awesome is that!

American Visionary Arts Museum

For the next month and a half I will be creating new original work for the American Visionary Art Museum's Bazaart show that opens the day after Thanksgiving and runs through Saturday. My work will incorporate everything I have been developing this past summer and new inspirations.

My work is inspired by color, designs from the past and unusual texture and shape. the trick will be to edit and hone designs that work, letting go of the ideas that don't. I'm feeling up to the challenge and excited to create beautiful pieces.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival! All of my shows have gone pretty well this past spring and summer. I am thrilled by the response to my new work!

In November I am honored to be participating in the American Visionary Art Museum's Bazaart Festival taking place at the museum on November 26 and 27. I have been a big fan of this museum for many years and am planning to create a line exclusive to this show! If you are in Baltimore over the Thanksgiving Holiday plan on stopping in. Hours are posted on their web site.

Personally the fam and I are slowly adjusting to the highly scheduled life that is fall. Gracie is in her second year of high school with a rigorous academic schedule and a new sport, cross country! To be honest, I don't know how she does it. Liam is Liam...He marches to his own drummer. A fact that I admire greatly.

I will be teaching a few classes this sunday May 14 at VIVO! in beautiful downtown historic Annapolis, Maryland (6 Fleet St.) The classes will be: beginning knitting, knitted metal bracelet, and beaded earring making. The fun starts at 10am and runs through 6pm. check out the Vivo facebook page for more information. I am scheduled to teach this summer at the Dorchester Arts Center in Cambridge, Maryland. Back from soggy Richmond! Yes it rained... and rained....and rained.

This Saturday I will be in front of the Del Ray Artisans building in Alexandria, Virginia (weather permitting, of course) with lots of new work. Then it's back to Cambridge, Maryland and my studio to welcome visitors for the monthly second Saturday gallery walk. I will be in my studio from 6:00pm on. Also going on in Cambridge is the Jazz Fest. Deanna Bogart will be the featured performer.

show anxiety

getting ready to load up the car for the first show of the season... feeling weirdly anxious. i have been doing this for well over 15 years, yet, i don't know. i haven't had a brand new line in awhile and i feel like i'm about to sing a solo in public for the first time (i don't sing).

i feel very invested emotionally in this line. it's very different then anything I have ever done. i hope i can calm down.

this weekend cambridge is celebrating its' 325th year. yeehaw! my studio mates and myself will be opening their studios for everyone to see their new work this saturday, april 11 from 5:00pm on. i will have alot of brand new stuff that i would love to show someone other then my children, husband and pets so come on down to 447 race street studios in beautiful downtown cambridge!

with mother's day coming soon, i always try to have special pieces dedicated to the day and the feeling of honoring mom. this year, i am featuring my custom pieces. with the gloomy economic outlook, what better way to honor wonderful women then with something truly unique and thoughtful. i have always had a fascination with nursery rhymes. you know the ones, they have a melodic sweet rhyming rhythm that gently masks the dark words. "ring around the rosie," "rock a bye baby," are all favorites. one way to catch your favorite quotations, nursery rhymes, even your children's precious names is to have them stamped on a pendant or bracelet. a truly unique piece of jewelry for a truly unique woman.

as i sit here in snow laden cambridge what comes to mind is my spring show schedule! what else, right? so far i am doing the following shows:

Art in the Park, Richmond, VA; this is the first weekend in May (saturday and sunday)at the Carillon Park in Richmond. this is a huge show so check back for my space assignment

St. Peter's Art Show in Lewes, Delaware; this show has undergone a sort of renaissance. it's much bigger than in year's past and the new organizers have done a wonderful job of re-organizing the artists and promoting the show to a broader audience. this year the show falls on the 4th of july! lewes is a quaint town so spend the weekend if you can.

Lewes Historical Society Craft Fair, Lewes Delaware; this show is the following saturday (the 11th) and it is on the grounds of the historical society off of shipcarpenter st. in downtown Lewes. always a good show, though it costs $3 to get in, it's worth it.

i am thinking of doing a show in chicago at the beginning of june, hmmmmmmm i will let you know as soon as i decide.
